Vanilla Ace & Wax Motif Take Boston

Who is Vanilla Ace?

British DJ, Vanilla Ace, is an exciting new house & nu-disco artist, who has been creating quite the buzz with remixes to hit songs, such as ZHU’s “Faded”. Vanilla Ace quickly gained recognition in 2012 with releases on Toolroom, MODA, Blockhead, and Ministry of Sound. With inspiration drawn from so many different genres, he came up with a distinctive production sound that is hard to figure out where he came up with all of the sounds.

It lies somewhere between house and disco, influenced by New Jack Swing and the 1980’s. His tracks had early support from the likes of The Magician, Soulclap and Seth Troxler. 2012 was a good year for Vanilla Ace, and they were nominated for ‘Best Breakthrough’ and ‘Best New Artist’ for the Soundplate awards in 2012.

Vanilla Ace has continued to supply a steady stream of “high quality house music, with groove” and in 2013 he saw many high charting singles on Beatport. These included collaborations such as “Go Deeva” with Barber, and original material released on Cr2, LouLou Records, as well as, remixes on Milk and Sugar and Urbana Recordings. In 2014 Vanilla Ace was honored to be in Beatport’s Top 10 best selling Nu Disco/Indie Dance Artist for 2014.

2015 brings Vanilla Ace festival appearances, tour dates, and releases including international tours. His latest “Better Way” EP was released on Go Deeva Records, including a slew of great remixes of his original production, “Better Way”. Vanilla Ace will be showcasing his ability to make you dance, as well as his unique nu-disco, and house, June 20th, at Prime for Deeper Boston.

Who is Wax Motif?

Danny Chien, better known as Wax Motif, has always been on top of his game. His unique sounds, and DJ skills always shine during his shows. A pioneer in the G-House sound, Wax Motif has rolled up to remind us that “deep” and “fun” can live in harmony. Trading crooning lyrics for chants and huge basslines, Wax Motif is performing and twisting up house and gangsta rap and turning into a genre you know and love. It’s rude and aggressive, and sets itself apart from other “house” music.

In 2012 Wax Motif released tracks through A-trak’s Fool’s Gold, Laidback Luke’s Mixmash Records and Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records, a compilation on label Strictly Rhythm as well as a remixes for Usher, Chromeo, Rebecca & Fiona and more. His standouts such as “Love Ting” “Go Deep”, and his “Shimmy Shake” EP quickly attracted attention, and received heavy airplay. His latest releases continue to shake up the seen. Wax Motif’s recent single original “Let Go” was released on DeadMau5’ Mau5trap Records, and his remix of Rihanna’s “Bitch Better Have My Money”, a collaboration with Baytek, is massive.

His style has adapted to the ever twisting “genre” of dance music, and his creativity and production prowesses have made him hard to ignore. Motif will be serving up a dizzying amount of original material, at Prime on June 20th for Deeper Boston. As well as some unreleased collaborations with Jauz and Astronomar. (Hopefully?) Wax Motif is not one to miss. The event is 21+, and starts at 10pm. Purchase Advance Ticket HERE, and visit Boston EDM & Wax Motif to learn more.
