Now we all know that DJs should be professional and serious about their work. Their job is to remix songs and entertain the audience. However, the DJs we remember go beyond this duty and do something just a little different. Nathaniel Rathbun, better known as Audien on stage, is that enduring figure with his fans. His music is truly an extension of himself and it expresses his true personality through his live mixes.
No one remembers the typical DJ they see at the club every weekend, but Audien is always vibing with the music and pumping the crowd up. He has just as much fun as everyone in the audience does. Actually, he definitely has more fun than everyone there because he truly loves his job. Every time he steps up to the booth he is getting ready to rave with the audience. I guarantee he will jump higher than you and yell louder than you. But hey, you can always prove me wrong on that.
He is not an imposing figure, just a normal guy in a normal T-shirt. He’s from a small town in Connecticut. Yes, Connecticut is a relevant state. There’s also a very good chance that he is younger than you. However, don’t let this fool you. He may look like an amateur, but he is the real deal and has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the EDM music industry. These include Tiesto, and Van Buuren. He lets his music speak for himself and every song is a fine piece of art that will leave you mesmerized. You will be sure to hear hit songs like Hindsight, Circles, Iris, Serotonin, and Pompeii. If these songs don’t seem intriguing you will certainly change your mind once you hear them live. All of these songs fall under the genre of progressive house, or progressive trance. His production quality and distinctive sound are both one of a kind that makes his performance special. From the very beginning he is sweating profusely and putting all of his effort into mixing. He has been quoted to say “I want to go to the gym more and get more, like … prepared for the shows. Because these shows have been more and more straining on my body.” He describes himself as a physical DJ because he always keeps crowd raging by raging with them. He knows exactly what the crowd needs to stay entertained. He has been known to stop people dead at the door from leaving the club. The name Audien may be random but it speaks his dedication to the AUDIENce at all events. From his trippy backdrops to mesmerizing lights, Audien will be sure to take on a ride of passion and thrill. His production is definitely the highlight of his performance and is what he focuses a lot of time and energy on.
